November Question of the Month Summary:
In your life so far, can you remember one very cool thing
that someone said or did that made you feel accepted or
important? While you have lived in Calgary can you think
of a time when someone said or did something kind for you
or someone else?
THE DOORWAY facilitates a safe place where young people
on the streets and the community can interact and learn
from each other. This relationship of equality is possible
through the process of THE DOORWAY; however, reality
looks very different outside of our office and in the community.
We are often asked how community can embrace the spirit
of THE DOORWAY while keeping the community and young
people safe in such a different environment. We have asked
participants to share with us some of their past experiences
with random acts of kindness.

October Question of the Month
Summary:
A current participant posed this question: In your
opinion, do you think most young people stay on the
streets for years and years because they are stuck
there and can’t find a way off the street or because
they don’t really want to get off the street? Explain.
Of the 44 participants who responded, many stated that
it was dependent on the person and that it was hard to
put individuals into categories. Out of these responses,
10 different generalized categories or themes were identified.
